BPSB School Food Service will provide meals at no cost to every student for the 2021-2022 school year

The Beauregard Parish School Food Services Department announced its policy for the 2021-2022 school year that healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost.

“This is a continuation of the policy that provides meals from federal funds associated with pandemic recovery,” explained SFS Coordinator Terrie Smith.

Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-priced meals, she said. However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year.

Free Meals for Students           While no application or eligibility determination process is required for a   student to receive free meals this school year, the income eligibility requirement will likely resume in the 2022-2023 school year.

Households that need to process a free and reduced meals application for P-EBT purposes may request one from the school or apply online at   www.beau.k12.la.us by clicking on the Lunch Menu icon.

“The School Food Service program in Beauregard Parish is an important part of the school day,” explained Smith. “We strive to meet the nutritional needs of our students by serving healthy breakfasts and lunches Most of our menu items are cooked from scratch, and our School Food Service technicians take pride in serving our students and staff.”

Each school and the Central Office have a copy of the BPSB School Food Service policy for the 2021-2022 school year, which may be reviewed upon request.
