Assistance available for students through School Food Services program
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, families in Beauregard Parish now qualify for assistance in
the recovery process through the Beauregard Parish School Board School Food Services programs,
according to Terrie Smith, BPSB SFS Director.
Beginning immediately, all students in Beauregard Parish schools will eat free in school cafeterias
for both breakfast and lunch through the end of the school year, according to Smith.

“Our School Food Service staff cook hot meals on-site and follow nutrition guidelines designed to
help our students eat healthily and function optimally through the school day,”
Smith said. “We encourage all students to participate in the school breakfast and lunch programs.”
A waiver with the USDA pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic is making this program available to all
students, and there is no application necessary. “All students who participate in the school breakfast and lunch programs from now through May 2021 will automatically receive those meals for free,” she explained. “We hope that this program will help alleviate some of the struggles associated with the disasters that families have faced in our parish, and we are pleased that our application was accepted so that
families can know their children have access to two meals each school day.”
Parents are encouraged to take advantage of the breakfasts and lunches available to
their children and to apply for other programs for which they may qualify.
