Donation from Washington Parish Schools to Help Beauregard Parish Schools

September 28, 2020

Employees of the Washington Parish School System delivered a trailer full of items for hurricane relief for Beauregard Parish schools, according to BPSB Superintendent Timothy Cooley.
“We are grateful to our friends from Washington Parish schools in Franklinton, Louisiana, who donated items, gathered them from six school system facilities, and delivered them last week to Beauregard Parish,” he said. “Recovery from the hurricane depends upon the generosity of others helping us through this process.”
Shane Smith, Coordinator of Support Services with the Washington Parish School System, along with one of the WPSS bus drivers gathered items from around Washington Parish donated by students and faculty of their schools. They then drove to the Title I Center in DeRidder, and eight hour round trip, to deliver the supplies.
They donated water, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, tooth paste, and cleaning supplies among their items. Items will be shared with schools in Beauregard Parish to meet the needs of our schools, employees, and students at this time.
Franklinton Elementary, Pine High School, Mt. Herman High School, Wesley Ray Elementary, Varnado High School, and the Washington Parish Central Office donated to the relief efforts.
“We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the students and employees of the Washington Parish School System for thinking of us and extending a helping hand,” Cooley concluded.
