All Beauregard Parish public schools will start the new school year on August 7, 2025,
and end on May 21, 2026, for students across the parish.
For the two schools that have been operating on the four-day school schedule –
Merryville High School and Singer High School – no major changes will be made in their school
calendars.
However, all other public schools in the parish will operate for a second year on a hybrid
schedule which includes a five-day week through mid-October and four-day weeks from mid-
October through the rest of the school year. Under this schedule, DeRidder schools, East
Beauregard schools, South Beauregard schools, and the Beauregard Alternative program will
meet on Fridays in August and September, on October 10 and 17, 2025, and on April 17 and 24,
2026. All other Fridays will be non-school days.
“The hybrid schedule was used last year as the board voted to implement the new
schedule for two school years,” explained Cord Ensminger, Assistant Superintendent. “The
upcoming school year is the second year that the hybrid schedule is being used for certain
schools in the parish.”
The Louisiana Handbook for School Administrators states that local education agencies
are required to ensure each school year calendar has a minimum of 63,720 minutes of
instructional time. School start and end times have been adjusted to meet this requirement for the
2025-2026 school year in Beauregard Parish schools. Each school may operate on a slightly
different start and end time, so parents are encouraged to double-check those times once their
child’s school sends the schedules for the new school year.
Teachers from all schools will report for staff development days August 4-6, 2025, with a
district-wide professional development day being held on Wednesday, August 5.
Calendars for both four-day and hybrid schedules can be found on the Beauregard Parish
website at www.beau.k12.la.us.
