Beauregard Parish schools preparing for early August start

Posted Date: 07/21/2022

Beauregard Parish schools are gearing up for the start of schools this August, according to Superintendent Timothy Cooley.

“School personnel have been working throughout the summer in preparation for the 2022-2023 school year,” he said, “and we are excited to welcome students back.”

Four-day students will begin classes on Wednesday, August 3, while five-day students will return to campus Wednesday, August 10. Teachers in four-day schools will return for staff development on Monday, August 1 and five-day staff will report on Thursday, August 4.

Teachers, administrators, and staff have participated in in-service training during the summer months. In addition, every school conducted a summer learning program during the month of June helping hundreds of students toward meeting their educational benchmarks.  Beauregard Parish School Start Dates

Student Safety and Campus Security evaluations were completed at each school site. Teams including school board members, Central Office administrators, and school administrators walked the grounds to evaluate school access, gates, fencing, camera placement, and other safety issues.

Technology staff have been focused on upgrading phone systems at all schools, installing new smart boards in classrooms, removing and replacing antiquated devices, and upgrading the network infrastructure. The staff has also installed the NFHS Pixellot Sports Camera system at DeRidder High School and South Beauregard High School to accommodate the subscription service for the public to have live access to covered sporting events.

Maintenance and custodial staff have focused on cleaning, repairing, painting, and upkeep of school facilities. In addition, construction and repairs to schools for bond projects and hurricane damage have been ongoing throughout the summer months.

“As we get closer to the start of the new school year, schools are turning their focus on specific plans to welcome students back to the classroom,” Cooley stated.

All parish schools are currently registering new students and finalizing schedules for the new school year. The Title I office takes applications for pre-school and Head Start programs throughout the year.

Information for the start of the new school year can be found on the BPSB website at www.beau.k12.la.us, on each school website, and parents can contact the schools and programs directly.
