Schedule for medication delivery set for Beauregard Parish schools
Beauregard Parish school nurses will be on hand to receive medications from parents/guardians for students with a prescription from their primary care professional, which must be dispensed during the school day. Certain documents, forms, and screenings are required in order for school nurses to dispense medications.
Parents need to fill out a request for medication administration at school, a confidentiality release, and Part I of the medication order form before attending the event. In addition, their child’s primary care professional must fill out and sign Part II and III (as applicable) of the Medication Order for the child to receive medication at school. The forms can be obtained at each Beauregard Parish school.
“Parents and guardians must bring their child with them to meet with school nurses according to the following schedule so that we can ensure that all required documentation and screenings are complete before the start of the new school year,” said Andrea Ferguson, BPSB Health Services Coordinator. “The required forms, along with the medication, should be brought to the meeting as well.”
Parents/guardians should plan to attend the meeting that corresponds with their child’s assigned school:
Parents who are not able to make their assigned school’s time can attend any other school’s delivery date listed above or call their child’s school nurse to make an appointment to complete the process prior to the start of school, explained Ferguson.
School nurses include Andrea Ferguson, DHS; Natalie Redditt, SBE and SBUE; Sonya Cook, SBUE and SBHS; Dana Primeaux, DJHS and BAP; Melissa Warner, PWE; Tessa Simmons, EBE and EBHS; Emily Reeves, SHS; Lauren Dowden, MHS; Jessica Dear, KRH, and Nikki Galloway, DES.
