ABOUT YOUR SCHOOL COUNSELOR:
I graduated with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education in 1980 from McNeese
State University.
I graduated with a M.Ed in Elementary Education in 1988.
In 2002 I obtained a Master's +30 hours graduate credit and certified as
a K-12 school counselor.
I began my teaching career at East Beauregard High School in 1980 and have
taught for 22 years before becoming the school counselor in 2002.
Counselor's Role
The Counseling Department serves the students, faculty, and parents in a number of ways.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Students are provided confidential counseling dealing with personal, social,
or disciplinary concerns. Students may be referred to counseling by the
parent, principal, teacher, or may request to visit the counselor themselves.
SMALL GROUP COUNSELING
I cover the points of the Character Counts program through large group guidance
lessons in each classroom. These points include Responsibility, Caring,
Citizenship, Trustworthiness, Respect, and Fairness.
PARENTAL ASSISTANCE
Parents are encouraged to contact the counseling office when there is a
problem with their child. Many times you will find that your child's "problems"
are simply part of the growth process. I will work with you to help your
child adjust to whatever situation may arise. When there is a situation
beyond the expertise of your school counselor, you will be referred to someone
who will be able to provide the help your child needs.
