BAND CAMP

Band camp is mandatory for all members of the “Ambassadors In Blue” and will run for a little more than 1 week.

Aug 1st - 5th

Monday - Friday

8am - 12:00 for all band members

Percussion and Guard will continue to

work from 1:00 - 3:00pm all week.

 

BAND FEES

            The band fee this year will be $120.  This fee will cover your shirts, all entry and participation fees, and other miscellaneous costs. Percussionist will pay an additional $60.00 Stick/Head Fee.  The rental fee on school instruments is $40.00.  ***FUNDRAISING PROFITS MAY BE APPLIED TOWARDS BAND FEES, (profit does not transfer from year to year)***.  All band fees are due August 5th.

DeRIDDER MARCHING FESTIVAL

Last year’s festival was a tremendous success.  This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than any festival to date. DO NOT plan anything on this date.  We are going to need every band student and their parents to have another successful festival.  Have your parents get your picture ready now to put an ad for you in the festival program.

SUMMER UNIFORM

 

We will again be wearing a summer uniform until the weather gets cooler.  Please make sure that you have a pair of khaki school uniform pants.  We will have a new shirt this year!  Shirts will be ordered during band camp.  There will be no additional fee for this shirt. 

 

We will also be ordering shoes during camp.  Shoes will be $30.00.  Everyone will need new shoes this year as the band pants are going to be black..

FALL REHEARSAL SCHEDULE         

            FULL BAND

            Monday thru Thursday– 7:00 a.m. – 8:50 a.m. (Regular Block A)

            Friday – Outside (Football Field) – 7:30 a.m. -- (One run-through)

           

            SECTIONALS

            Drum Line – Weekly rehearsal every Tuesday     3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

            Guard – Weekly rehearsal every Tuesday             3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  

ALL STATE AUDITIONS

 

First round All State auditions will be held on Saturday, September 24h at Barbe High School in Lake Charles.  You have been given this music before school let out.  This audition is the first step towards several honors – 2nd Round, All-State, College Scholarships, etc.  Please come by the band hall and play for us! 

 

DISTRICT HONOR BAND AUDITIONS

District honor band auditions will now be held in September at the same time as first round all-state.  The music you will audition with is the following year’s All-State music.  The music and cuts are listed on the attached web address. http://www.districtv.org/highschool1strou.html  Entry is covered by your band fee.  Everyone is expected to participate.  Additionally, audition results will factor into band placement in the spring. It is never to early to begin practicing.  

 

SPRING TRIP 2012

 

The trip this year has not been determined..  The cost of the trip will be $300.00. (If the DeRidder Marching Festival is the same success).  In order to travel we will need all members to plan to attend.  More information will be forthcoming.  We will discuss the trip during the first week of camp. Please start saving now.  First trip payment ($100.00) will be due September 2ndt, second trip payment ($100.00) will be due October 4th and the last payment ($100.00) will be due November 2nd.

 

FUNDRAISERS

 

You will have one opportunity to raise funds toward band and trip fees this year.  Our fundraiser will be the Dragon Card.  (Sign-up for Dragon Cards will begin during band camp).
